The V-House is nestled in an up-and-coming locality, designed to cater to a modern lifestyle in Chennai.
The evolving status of the neighborhood signals a growing demand for contemporary living spaces that seamlessly merge architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and integrated services.
V-House is focused around three considerations: Bringing natural light into the house, harmony within urban constraints to enhance livability of the home and space optimization to ensure that every space has a purpose and is efficient.
Strategically positioned windows and openings flood interior spaces with natural light, enriching the ambiance and the well-being of occupants.
In tune with local and cultural context, Common Praxis seamlessly integrated courtyards, balconies, and verdant spaces, establishing a harmonious relationship with the outdoors, thereby enhancing the home's livability.
Efficient space utilization is paramount, with each area serving a unique purpose. This entails optimizing room layouts and circulation paths while seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor spaces., seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor realms for a cohesive living experience.
Warmth and vitality is brought into the space by abundant natural lighting. The architect’s vision extends beyond mere aesthetics; it embraces the practical benefits of sunlight, enhancing well-being and reducing energy consumption.
Designing a layout that supports both dynamic family life and the possibility of future growth within the neighborhood’s fabric was important to the client. Common Praxis designed a simple open plan layout centered around the courtyard.
At the heart of family-centric architecture lies the imperative to accommodate diverse activities, both formal and informal, fostering social cohesion and familial bonds. This ethos drives a flexible open-plan layout, strategically orchestrating furniture placement and zone demarcation to maintain unobstructed sightlines throughout the home. By eschewing traditional partitions, this intentional design choice aims to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor realms, fostering a sense of continuity and connection.
Building on continuity between interior and exterior, Common Praxis provided additional value by integrating landscape design into V-House.
This image captures the hardscaping essence of the V-House's landscape design, highlighting precision in brickwork and artfully arranged pathways and steps. It exemplifies the seamless integration of landscape architecture within the residence, accentuating the fluid transition from interior to exterior spaces.
The exterior of V-House reveals a rich texture that speaks volumes about its material selection and application. The juxtaposition of rough stucco against smooth plaster epitomizes the material diversity. This interplay of textures not only adds visual interest but also addresses aesthetic challenges inherent in modern residential design.
Granite Surface Patterns
The graphical portrayal of granite surface patterns within V-House offers insight into its intricate interior design choices. Diverse patterns indicate an attention to detail and the profound influence of material aesthetics on the home's ambiance. This depiction vividly illustrates how thoughtful surface design enriches the sensory experience within a residence, engaging occupants visually and tactually.
The Plan
Spread across two levels, the house features four bedrooms and versatile living spaces encircling a peaceful courtyard. Enhancing the ambiance are water features, skylights, and balconies, seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor areas. The terrace offers multiple functions, including a sunlit open area, a practical laundry space, and a landscaped section with a jacuzzi for relaxation.
